Buddy Valastro, a fourth-generation baker in New Jersey who’s gained fame on cable television as the “Cake Boss,” will be appearing at Festa Italiana for the first time.  Valastro will be featured at the Marcus Amphitheater on Saturday, July 23, at 3 p.m.

Tickets for Valastro’s show are $35 and $25, and include admission to Festa.  Tickets are on sale now at the Italian Community Center, 631 E. Chicago St., Milwaukee, the Marcus Amphitheater Box Office (southwest end of Summerfest grounds), Ticketmaster.com or by charge at 1-800-745-3000.

Presenting sponsor for the Cake Boss is the Boelter Superstore (www.boeltersuperstore.com), which is at 4200 N. Port Washington Rd. in Milwaukee.  Boelter provides restaurant quality products – cookware, utensils, china, glassware, cleaning supplies and more – at wholesale prices.

Providing additional sponsorship are Roundy’s Pick ‘n Save supermarkets and the Italian Community Center.

The 33-year-old Valastro is the head of Carlo’s Bakery, a family-owned business in Hoboken, N.J.  The bakery is so popular that it is considered a tourist attraction.  In 2010, in recognition of the bakery’s 100th anniversary, Hoboken renamed the corner of Washington and Newark Streets “Carlo’s Bakery Way.”

Valastro took over the operations of the bakery at age 17, following the death of his father, Buddy Senior.  The younger Valastro has become an accomplished master baker and cake decorator and star of the hit TLC reality show, “Cake Boss.”  He is often asked to demonstrate and teach his craft around the country.  His award-winning designs have been featured numerous times in different bridal and baking magazines.

In the 10,000-square-foot state-of-the-art Carlo’s Bakery, Valastro and his staff turn out thousands of wedding cakes, specialty cakes and pastries every week.

The “Cake Boss” show premiered in April of 2009.   Valastro is currently filming the fourth season of the show.  The success of “Cake Boss” led to a spin-off competition series on TLC, “Next Great Baker,” hosted by Valastro.

Yet another spin-off debuted earlier this year.  “Kitchen Boss,” in which Valastro shares family recipes, is also on the TLC cable channel.
